IELTS Speaking Part 3 Idea: TOPIC 4: WRITING BOOKS

1. Do people in your country like to write books?
• the book market is full of books of local authors.
People in my country like to write books if they:
• have expertise in some field and want to share it in order to become ‘go-to’ people
• have some engaging story to tell, for example, a personal story, which describes some aspect of their life personal struggle, a great learning experience or a turning point
• want and know how to motivate or inspire people who are ‘stuck’ personally or in business
• want to market their business and draw in new customers
• want to amuse or entertain people.
 People in my country like to write books because:
• they want to be famous
• they want to make a pile of money
• they have a story or idea that they stand not to share with the world
• they want to share their thoughts passions with the world
• a good book can help them get media coverage.
People in my country don’t like to write books because:
• it’s hard
• they just don’t like writing
• don’t have what to write about.
2. What kind of writers are considered to be good?
Good writers:
• are able to connect their audience to the story
• construct their writing in a way that’s understood by their target audience
• are able to distill complex thoughts and ideas into simple, clear language that’s quickly and easily understood by others
• are open-minded, which allows them to see their work through the eyes of others
• think of things from their reader’s point of view
• write what moves them emotionally which is carried over to the reader.
• have something valuable to say
• can keep readers glued to their chairs.
3. Some writers write surreal books, but why do some people still like to read these books?
• Escape their reality, and surreal books are the perfect gateway that lets them do it temporarily.
• They let the magic in people breathe.
• They offer an outlet to people’s emotions while maintaining an illusion of distance and passivity, helping people confront things that they may have bottled out of fear, trauma, pain or grief.
• They give people hope that mistakes do not mean the end and that no matter how mammoth the odds are, they still win.
4. What are the benefits of working as a writer?
• the fulfillment of producing something creative and unique
• the privilege of a great sense of control over their work
• the ability to work from home
• the chance to become quite well-known or even famous
• experiencing a great deal of reward and gratification bringing joy and pleasant to people.
